10 Chrome Extensions for Community Managers

Reading time: 4 minutes

There is nothing more comfortable than being able to use the most common tools for your job as community manager without having to stop surfing the net or changing tabs. It can get so frustrating and time consuming when you have to keep flicking through lots and lots of open windows. Programming posts on social networks, saving articles to read them later, or checking your email are some of the most common tasks in the day to day life of a community manager, and we can do all of these quickly if we have the right resources to do so. For this, we can download different extensions to our Chrome navigator and save time in our daily duties.

With this in mind, as a lover for technology, plugins, content, social media, analytics, graphics, and the rest of it, I have compiled a list of the best chrome extensions for community managers. Here are the first 10:

1- Hootsuite

HootSuite is a social media management tool that enables you to see and control all of your  social media management from one spot. You can create or schedule updates, track and monitor conversations or mentions, and analyze results across multiple social networks including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+.

2- Hootlet

Hootlet by HootSuite allows you to share or schedule a post from the web page you’re browsing across all of your social networks. Hootlet saves you time by prepopulating the page title and URL in the message and you can post on up to 5 social media networks with one click.

3- Instagram for Chrome

With this extension, you can use Instagram directly from your browser. The interface is similar to Instagram, you can browse, like and comment on photos from your newsfeed. Click on any @name or #hashtag to browse through.

riffle4- Riffle

Whether you're trying to find a few influential tweeters to help increase your reach or trying to learn what makes a particular account so popular, Riffle by CrowdRiff has you covered, channeling the power of social analytics into a simple, intuitive dashboard.

Riffle extension, allows you to understand any user's influence on Twitter. Once you install the extension each time you load up Twitter on the Web, a little icon will appear next to each user’s name. Clicking on the icon pops up a sidebar showing the number of followers the user has, how many retweets, favorites, top hashtags etc...

5- Pocket

You can use Pocket extension to easily save articles, videos and more to view later on any device. We all tried to email ourselves interesting links of posts or youtube videos only to realize that these emails end up getting piled in your inbox and buried under the 100's of other emails you get. Save directly from your browser or from apps like Twitter, Flipboard, Pulse and Zite. If it's in Pocket, it's on your phone, tablet or computer. You don't even need an Internet connection.

When you find something you want to view later, put it in Pocket. AVE FOR LATER puts articles, videos or pretty much anything into Pocket. Save directly from your browser or from apps like Twitter, Flipboard, Pulse and Zite.

6- Bitly - Create, share, and track shortened links

Bitly’s browser extension has all the standard features you’d expect from a link shortener: custom shortening, analytics, and easy copy-and-share buttons. Bitly takes things one step further even and lets you add shortened links to bundles so you can keep organized with a series of similar links. Another cool feature: The Bitly extension can notify you when your link reaches a predetermined (by you) number of views.

7- Hover Zoom

Enlarge thumbnails on mouse over. Works on many sites (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Reddit, Amazon, Tumblr, etc). Browse image galleries with ease: move the mouse cursor over thumbnails to view images in their full size without loading a new page. Pictures are automatically resized if they don't fit the window.

8- Sidekick

Sidekick by HubSpot is the easiest way to get powerful contact insight right in your inbox. This is my all time favorite!

9-  SocialBro Social Media

SocialBro is the # 1 Twitter marketing platform and the ONLY Twitter analytics and management tool which combines powerful real-time data with campaign management functionality to help you analyze, engage, and monetize your Twitter marketing efforts. SocialBro’s suite of analytics and management tools is a game changer in the hands of the new breed of Twitter power users and digital marketers. SocialBro combines real-time actionable data with the power to deliver and manage campaigns, harnessing the amazing potential of Twitter as a marketing channel to deliver high impact results across a range of metrics.

10- Giphy’s extension - Fun animated GIFs to enhance your updates

With Twitter and Pinterest now supporting GIFs and other social media sites like Google+ and Tumblr enjoying great engagement with them, it’s become increasingly handy to have a pitch-perfect GIF ready to express how you’re feeling in your update, reply, or comment. The Giphy extension lets you search through the huge archives and grab a shortened URL of the GIF you choose.
